Raqpart
Now established as one of Budapest’s very best summer hangouts, raqpart opened in the summer of 2014, and not just anywhere – the outdoor bar terrace at the Pest-side bridgehead of the Chain Bridge has an exceptional panorama, with a background of the Buda Castle, Matthias Church, and the Fishermen’s Bastion. Raqpart is an excellent choice for a light summer chill session
Wine bars
From a rustic hangout in a refurbished century-old building to a refined riverfront spot with sweeping vistas over the Pest skyline, to an upscale bar inspired by sprawling Hungarian vineyards, Budapest features many spots to discover Hungarian wines.
DiVino
DiVino, probably the most popular wine bar in Budapest, is situated right next to the St. Stephen’s Basilica. The modern, trendy, and youthful attitude is reflected by the bar’s interior design. The wine bar sells Hungarian wines exclusively, with preference given to young and upcoming Hungarian winemakers.
Doblo
On an ever-bustling corner of Dob Street in the heart of Pest’s Jewish Quarter, Doblo is a laid-back meeting point with tastefully dimmed lights, elegantly exposed brick walls, and wine bottles stylishly mounted side-by-side. The abundant selection of Magyar-made reds, whites, and rosés should get conversation flowing!
Veritas
Veritas, recently opened their own bar next to the shop on Dohány Street, and it is certainly one of the most beautiful wineries in Budapest. The impressive assortment holds 380 bottles, out of which 60 are also available by glass. Veritas also boasts a kitchen, with ingredients purchased from local farmers.
Kerts (ruin pubs)
Ruin bars have become emblematic places of Budapest. They each have ample indoor and outdoor areas to hang out in all year, from spacious courtyards for sipping while soaking up sunshine to cavernous brick-walled chambers where live music heats up the scene no matter how cold it gets outside.
Szimpla
Szimpla is the oldest and most popular ruinbar. Wide selection of drinks, friendly staff, cultural events and live music, you’ll find pretty much everything that you need for a night out. But it’s more than that, there’s even a farmers market every Sunday with fresh and lovely food, for your stock at home or just to taste there, the choice is yours.
Anker't
Right behind the Ballet Institue, there’s Anker't, less touristy, essential, and one of the largest ruin bars in town. During the day - and of course, during the night - you’ll find some essence of the Hungarian underground cultural scene from zine-maniacs to musicians, from gardeners to activists. It often homes cultural or art events and festivals.
Fröccsterasz
Not a kert per say, Fröccsterasz doesn’t pretend to be more than a pub terrace. They kept their free, cool and stylish design in the new place as well. The appeal of the place lies in the fact that sitting here immerses you completely into the buzz of Erzsébet Square. Akvárium Klub another huge open-air club happens to be just right next door.
